Shahabuddin Medical College

Shahabuddin Medical College is a private medical college located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Established in 2003, it offers a program leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree and is affiliated with the University of Dhaka. The institution is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).

Courses and curriculum

The college offers a five-year MBBS program followed by a one-year internship. The curriculum is structured into four phases, with the medium of instruction being English. 

• Pre-Clinical Phase (1.5 years): Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry.
• Para-Clinical Phase (1 year): Community Medicine and Forensic Medicine.
• Para-Clinical Phase (1 year): Pharmacology & Therapeutics, Pathology, and Microbiology.
• Clinical Phase (1.5 years): Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and related subjects.

• Hospital: The college has an affiliated 500-bed hospital that provides students with extensive practical clinical exposure.
• Campus: Features modern infrastructure, including advanced laboratories, lecture halls, and a spacious library.
• Accommodation: Separate hostel blocks are available for male and female students, with furnished rooms, security, and dining facilities.

Admission requirements

For Indian students, the admission process requires: 

• A minimum aggregate score of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the 12th-grade examination.
• A qualifying score on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
• Applicants must be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year.
